Becky Rumsey of member station KGNU in Boulder, Colorado reports on the fight over what would be the American West’s first large private water development project. The project, which would bring water to the Denver area from a large aquifer in Southern Colorado, has the backing of some high-profile environmentalists, including former EPA administrator William Ruckelshaus and former Colorado governor Richard Lamm. But local residents are nearly unanimous in their opposition, and have won the support of a host of state and Federal agencies.
