That British enclave lies across the water from the Moroccan city we’re looking for. Our mystery spot used to have a reputation as a safe-house for spies, smugglers and other dubious characters. And it’s been used as the location for many spy novels and movies.

In “The Bourne Ultimatum,” Jason Bourne comes to this city to track down a spy and chase him through the streets. But reality is a little less exciting.

Tourists like to go there, and Moroccan officials are pushing to develop the city’s port. Their goal is to build one of the Mediterranean’s largest commercial ports.

We’ll hear more about that … when we reveal the city’s name here…

Back in the 1950’s and 60’s, Tangier was an exotic place that attracted American artists such as Jack Kerouak and Tenneesee Williams.

The city then went through a long period of decline, famous for its seediness.
