Foreign workers in U.S. consider leaving

This worker comes from northern India and arrived in the U.S. four years to work as a research scientist. She says she’s not sure how long this job is going to last and that’s a major insecurity, whereas in India she could get that security. This woman already made the move and moved back to India after living in Dallas for multiple years. She says life in the U.S. was stressful and expensive. Indian professionals have long headed to the U.S. looking for a better future. But this research scientist says it’s not the same anymore, and the IT sector in the U.S. is not as booming as it used to be. He makes around $3,000 in the U.S. but he’d be better off in India making a third of that. Those Indians thinking of going home are still in the minority though, and the U.S. issued a record number of visas to Indians last year, and the number is expected to be even higher this year.
