Italy’s prime minister, Silvio Berlusconi has been accused of paying for sex with underage women as well as abuse of power for getting the police to release one of the women who was being held for theft. Berlusconi has long been accused of being corrupt; however, there hasn’t been a move to oust him from office.
Robert Sargent Shriver Junior, brother-in-law to president John F. Kennedy, died yesterday in Bethesda, Md. He was 95.The man best known as Sargent was wife to Eunice Kennedy Shriver, who died in 2009, and father to Maria Shriver. Shriver was the founding director of the Peace Corps, and served as U.S. ambassador to France from 1968 to 1970. Sargent also ran for vice president in 1972, with Democratic presidential candidate George McGovern. He was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2003.Here to talk with us about Sargent Shriver’s legacy is Douglas Brinkley, Professor of History at Rice University.
