Abuelaish’s Story: ‘I Shall Not Hate’

The Takeaway

Egypt has a key role as an ally to both Israel and Gazan Palestinians. It’s one of the few countries that has a relationship with both groups. As the political ground shifts yet again in the Middle East, we take a look at one Palestinian doctor and how he came to be an advocate for peace in Gaza.

Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish was shattered two years ago, when three of his daughters were killed in their home by Israeli shells. Astoundingly, he has become a vocal advocate for Middle East peace. He has written a new book about his journey, “I Shall Not Hate.”He shares his journey from loss to new life and how his experiences as a doctor helped him deal with the immediate aftermath of his horrible loss.
