Boxing champion Robert Guerrero was arrested at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York on Thursday after he tried to board a flight with a gun.
Guerrero, nicknamed “The Ghost,” was heading to Las Vegas a day after celebrating his 30th birthday.
The New York Post reported the interim WBC welterweight champ was busted carrying an unloaded .40-cal Smith & Wesson semi-automatic on his way to catch a Delta flight to the gambling resort city.
He reportedly admitted that he was carrying the handgun at the ticket counter and police were called.
Guerrero, who is scheduled to fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. on May 4, would be arraigned on gun possession charges later Thursday, ESPN reported.
Boxing fans were not impressed by the incident.
