Downton Abbey: NBC announces creator Julian Fellowes will create new period drama

'Downton Abbey' creator Julian Fellowes has signed a deal with NBC to create a new period drama about the Gilded Age in New York.

NBC said the new television show, “The Gilded Age,” will be an “epic tale of the princes of the American Renaissance, and the vast fortunes they made — and spent — in late 19th century New York,” the New York Times reported.
Fellowes will continue to produce the popular 'Downton Abbey' series for PBS.
In a released statement, he said “This was a vivid time with dizzying, brilliant ascents and calamitous falls, of record-breaking ostentation and savage rivalry; a time when money was king.”
NBC did not say when the program would air.
Meanwhile, 'Downton' fans were happy to learn this weekend that the program was renewed for a fourth season. It currently airs in the UK on ITV, and the third season will start airing in the US on Jan. 6. on PBS, Entertainment Weekly wrote.
