Understanding the Taliban

Since the Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan, there’s been a lot of worry about what they will do, how they will rule and what it means for Afghan women. But a more fundamental question is this: Who are they this time around? Also, asylum-seekers allege pushbacks at Europes’ external borders. One Syrian child attempting to reach Europe claims he was violently pushed back from Greece to Turkey. And a second child, also Syrian, managed to escape the forced return. And, in the years after 9/11, crossing US land borders has become more difficult. That’s had an outsized effect in towns along the Canadian border. Plus, ABBA is back!
