Stephen Foster

Hydrologist Stephen Foster is Senior Advisor to the Global Water Partnership based in Stockholm. His more recent professional posts include the World Health Organization-Groundwater Advisor for Latin America & Caribbean (1986-89), the British Geological Survey-Divisional Director for Environmental Surveys (1990-99), University of London–Visiting Professor of Groundwater Science (1993-2010), World Bank-Groundwater Management Team Director (2001-11) and the Global Water Partnership-Senior Adviser (2011-13). Dr. Foster is a very active member of IAH (the worldwide groundwater association) – Vice President-Western Europe(2000-04) and President (2004-08).  Dr. Foster is the author of some 175 publications – received DSc from University of London in 1983 for published work and awards from professional societies/academic bodies on 9 occasions including British IWES-Whitaker Medal (1976), Foreign Member – Spanish Real Academia de Ciencias (1993), IAH Presidents’ Award (2004) and GS London-William Smith Medal (2006).
