Dr. Nicole Hill is a Research Fellow at the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies. Her research spans a range of applied marine ecology topics including; ectoxicology, quantifying human impacts, modelling biodiversity and developing monitoring programs. Nicole's recent research focusses on understanding, quantifying and mapping biodiversity to support decision making in the marine environment, and she currently leads a project that is applying novel statistical methods to model and map marine biodiversity in Antarctica.
Hidden under the cover of sea-ice for most of the year, and living in cold water near the seafloor, are thousands of unique species. Research has generated new techniques to map where these species live, and predict how this might change in the future.
