Lucía Oliva Hennelly

I am currently the Campaign Manager for New Climate Partnerships at Environmental Defense Fund (EDF). I came to EDF as a Tom Graff Diversity Fellow working to expand the climate program’s engagement with new partners and allies, and today I manage national Latino engagement initiatives, as well as support partnership engagement for Defend Our Future, EDF’s young voter program.My passions lie at the intersections of climate change, social justice, and human development, and I have a background in civic engagement and community organizing.  Prior to EDF, I worked as a Field Organizer for the 2008 Obama general election campaign in New Mexico and as the Youth Coordinator for the Center for Community Change (CCC) in Washington, D.C.  While at CCC, I developed and launched capacity building trainings for young DREAMers for the national campaign for comprehensive immigration reform, training over 1,000 young people nationwide in grassroots organizing and mobilization with New Organizing Institute and Harvard Professor Marshall Ganz. Previously, I spent several years teaching and studying in Stanford University’s Earth Systems program and learning from some of the country’s best organizers and activists with the Ear to the Ground Project (eartothegroundproject.org).  I hold an interdisciplinary Masters in Environmental Science and Policy from Stanford University and am based in the San Francisco Bay area.
