Eric Goldberg composed the signature tune for PRI's The World.Born in Brooklyn NY, Eric began studying accordion at age six and soon developed a penchant for fine sushi. At age 15, he won a scholarship to the Berklee College of Music from Downbeat magazine on saxophone. As a result of this he was chosen to be in the MGM film, "Fame" as a principle musician (he's in the lunchroom scene... with very big hair!) Eric attended Berklee and later studied piano under Charlie Banacos.He ate some more Sushi, and then worked with people like Carla Bley, Steve Swallow, Lew Soloff, Bob Moses, Don Alias, etc. Later he began to work in broadcast scoring music for spots, show opens and documentaries. He created the theme for "The World" for WGBH and the BBC and has written extensive themes and incidental music for Tom Snyder Productions. Since 1990, he has won many awards including an Emmy nomination and has worked with some of the most prominent directors and producers on the east coast.Eric recently received a 2002 Grammy nomination for "Best Rock Instrumental Performance" as keyboardist for The Steve Vai Band. In the summer you can find Eric fishing, in hopes of catching a "keeper striper" so that he doesn't have to spend too much money on his enormous sushi habit.
