Special Guest: They Might Be Giants

Kurt Andersen spends the day at Coney Island with John Linnell and John Flansburgh of the band, They Might Be Giants.

They Might Be Giants are John Flansburgh and John Linnell, the accordion-and-guitar duo based in Brooklyn. They got their start in 1982 singing for food in Central Park, and today have sold over 3 million records and performed more than one thousand shows around the world. Flansburgh and Linnell have recorded songs for television and film (including the theme song for Malcolm in the Middle). For more than a decade they have run a Dial-a-Song service on the Giants’ answering machine, with a new tune recorded almost every day. They are the subject of the film Gigantic: A Tale of Two Johns, now out on DVD.
