A rock musical about a bipolar suburban housewife? Admit it, you doubted the success of “Next to Normal” too. But 11 Tony nominations (3 wins) and 400+ performances later, the show is still rocking. If you haven’t had the chance to see it, this latest accolade should be your cue to get to the theater now.
“Next to Normal” just won the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. In the 92-year history of the award, only seven other musicals have won a Pulitzer. And as the LA Times reports, the board that administers the awards was so jazzed about the show, they overruled the short list of recommendations by the jury.
