According to some reports, including those from Fox News and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, one person died and at least 15 people are injured. There was no confirmation of whether or not those affected by the crash were passengers from the bus or from the tractor-trailer.

Rhonda Hookover, secretary to the superintendent of the Turkeyfoot Valley Area School District, confirmed there were students on the bus, but she couldn't say how many, reported the Associated Press. All those on board the bus were in grades 10 through 12.

A spokesman for Somerset Hospital said eight people arrived by ambulance and another seven to 10 people with minor injuries were taken to the hospital by bus, according to the AP. The spokesman did not know the severity of the injuries or how many involved students.

The crash occurred when the truck and school bus, which was taking students from the Turkeyfoot Valley Area School District to a vocational and technical school in Somerset, struck each other in what appeared to be a head-on collision, reported USA Today and the AP.
