Hip-hop singer Wyclef Jean says he was "grazed by a bullet" in Port-au-Prince on the eve of Haiti's presidential runoff election.
Jean was reportedly in Port-au-Prince to support fellow musician and Haitian presidential candidate Michel Martelly.
A Haitian national police spokesman said that Jean was treated at a hospital for an injury, but he would not confirm if it was from a bullet, CNN reported.
According to reports, Jean said he suffered the wound on his hand soon after stepping out of his car to talk on his phone. The wound was superficial and "he is doing well," Jean spokeswoman Cindy Tanenbaum said.
Following the incident, a representative of Jean tweeted: "We have spoken to Wyclef, he is ok. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers — Management"
Haitians went to the polls Sunday for a long-delayed presidential runoff amid rebuilding after a devastating earthquake in 2010. Their choice was between Martelly, 50, and former first lady Mirlande Manigat, 70.
Officials and observers said polling in the Caribbean state, one of the world's poorest, was largely peaceful and counting had begun, in many cases by lamplight as much of the capital Port-au-Prince has no electricity, Reuters reported.
Preliminary results are not officially due to be announced until the end of the month.
Jean, a Haiti native, runs a foundation to provide earthquake relief aid. He briefly pursued a bid to be president of Haiti in September, but was ruled ineligible by election officials.
