Rio’s efforts to tame its notorious favelas marches on. Citing an un-named police source, the tabloid O Dia reports today that special operations police units are gearing up next week to invade the Complexo do Sao Carlos in northern Rio, along with Estacio and Catumbi, two favelas quite close to your correspondent’s own neighborhood.
