A Russian woman has gotten her cat plastic surgery to boost its chances of winning a beauty contest. Yes, really.

Olga Boiko, from the southern city of Rostov-on-Don, got her kitty Lyuse (possibly Lucy?) an eye-lift hoping to maker her cuter. Poor Lyuse (or Lucy) is a 2-year-old British Shorthair. Now, with big eyes.

“Lyuse was given to me as a birthday present as a one month old,” Boiko told Life News. “I had long wanted a British Shorthair. But certain parameters of her eyes did not allow her to take part in contests.”

The eyelift took an hour, veterinarian Aleksei Krotov told the tabloid. “We removed the hair from under her eyes and removed all the unnecessary wrinkles. That’s how we made Lyuse pretty.”
