The streets of many Brazilian cities are already full of boozy, pre-Carnival samba parties, one of which turned tragic this weekend. At least 15 people were killed in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais after a faulty power line fell onto a street packed with pre-Carnival revelers Saturday.
A crowd of people in the town of Bandeira do Sul were dancing around a truck rigged with speakers when the cable came loose and fell onto the celebration. Some reports say the truck pulled the cable down, others say fireworks set off during the party shook it loose.
