“Huge” pornography stash found in Osama bin Laden bedroom, reports say (UPDATES) (VIDEO)

A large stash of pornography was found in the hideout of Osama bin Laden by the U.S. commandos who killed him, U.S. officials reportedly said Friday.

The pornography was mainly modern, electronically recorded video, and the collection extensive, an official told Reuters on condition of anonymity.

Bin Laden's compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan, was reportedly cut off from the Internet or other hard-wired communications networks, "so it is unclear how compound residents would have acquired the pornography," Reuters reports.

A video confiscated from the compound and released by the Obama administration showed bin Laden watching pictures of himself on a TV screen, indicating that the compound was equipped with video equipment.

The officials couldn't say where in the compound the porn was found, or who viewed it. 

However, an unnamed official told ABC News that the "huge" stash was found in a wooden box in bin Laden's bedroom.

ABC quoted Lawrence Wright, an Osama bin Laden expert and author, as saying that videotapes seized at bin Laden's Pakistan compound show him as a "vain, pathetic old man" obsessed with his image.

"He's always been very careful about controlling his image and here was nurturing his image, watching himself on television in what was the most revealing, most human, least controlled moment of his entire career," Wright says. "This is just a guy who wants to be seen, who wants to be known. Very pathetic in a way."
