Black box found for Air France Brazil crash

Investigators have recovered the black box recorder from the 2009 Air France flight that crashed en route from Brazil but Bloomberg reports today that the device contains no data.

France’s air crash investigation bureau said today recovery workers found one of the flight’s black box data recorders but the memory module containing flight data was missing.

The Airbus SAS A330 was on its way to Paris June 1, 2009 when it plunged into the Atlantic, killing all 228 people on board. Investigators have been scouring the crash wreckage since it was located on the ocean floor April 3, 2010 under 12,000 feet of water.
