US Vice President Joe Biden arrives in Moscow later this week to talk politics and business and, according to diplomatic sources, prepare for an upcoming visit by President Barack Obama.
Biden has already left Washington to stop in Finland before arriving in the Russian capital on Tuesday night. On Wednesday, he’s due to visit Skolkovo, a state-run zone that aims to be the Russian version of Silicon Valley. He’ll also meet with President Dmitry Medvedev that night. On Thursday, he’ll give a speech at Russia’s top university and meet Prime Minister Vladimir Putin. No elite visit to Moscow would be complete without taking in a show at the Bolshoi Theatre and apparently that’s planned too.
This will be the latest step in the much vaunted “reset” in relations between Russia and the US. Let’s hope gaffe prone Biden behaves himself.
