Jerusha Jeffs, the niece of Warren Jeffs who testified at his trial for sexually assaulting 2 girls that she was raped by Jeffs when she was 7, has described her relief at his life sentence.
A Texas jury found Jeffs — the leader of a radical polygamist sect of Mormonism known as the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints (FLDS) — guilty Aug. 4 of sexually assaulting two teenage girls, forcing them into "spiritual marriage" and fathering a child with one of them when she was 15.

Jeffs, 55, was sentenced on Tuesday to life in prison with no chance of parole for 45 years.
Jerusha Jeffs' testimony about how her uncle molested her helped send him to prison, ABC reports.
Jerusha Jeffs — who grew up in the FLDS church, describing life there as "never a dull moment" — had revealed in court that Jeffs raped her when she was a second-grade student in the Utah elementary school where he served as principal.
"I feel a lot stronger now that I've put the man that needed to be put in prison in prison," she said in an interview.
Meanwhile, many FLDS members will probably continue to consider Jeffs as their leader, despite evidence that he had sex with girls as young as age 12, CBS quoted an expert as saying.
During nearly five years in various jails, Jeffs continued to spiritually direct the faith, counsel followers and lead Sunday services by phone.
"The vast majority are just not going to leave," Atlanta-based polygamy historian and writer Ken Driggs said. "They've got family ties and marriage ties and a culture deeply rooted in their faith."
There was no mass exodus in 2007 after Jeffs' was convicted on Utah sex assault charges.
