Traffic jams so bad it hurts

You thought your commute was bad.

It’s official: Mexico City has the “most painful” commute in the world.

According to this study by IBM, Mexico City ranks 108 on the “Commuter Pain Index.” Yes, that is what it is called. Full list after the jump.

So the study considered a host of factors, such as commuting time, time stuck in traffic, whether driving causes anger, and whether drivers abandon trips entirely because they know the traffic will be too much of a hassle.

Mexico City residents won the first-place rank for not only being angry, but also deciding not to go out because of the congestion.

They were followed by people in Shenzhen and Beijing in China, and then Nairobi, Kenya, one of the most crowded cities in Africa. And even though they're not at the top, the U.S. has the most cities on the list of any country. Famous traffic-complainers in Los Angeles take note: you didn't even crack the top 10.
