Strauss-Kahn arrives back in France

GlobalPost

Former International Monetary fund head Dominique Strauss-Kahn and wife Anne Sinclair arrived back in Paris from New York on Sunday morning.

After touching down at dawn at Charles de Gaulle at 7am local time, the pair left in a black Peugeot for their apartment on the Place des Vosges, in central Paris.

It's Strauss Kahn's first time back in France since a sexual assault case against him began in New York City last May, when hotel maid Nafissatou Diallo accused him of attempted rape.

The charges were dropped two weeks ago, clearing the way for him to travel.

Agence France Presse reported that the pair was surrounded by a large number of police after disembarking from their flight.

They were smiling, but did not speak to journalists at the airport, or outside their home.

In fact, Strauss-Kahn — a one-time presidential hopeful — has made few public announcements since the case fell apart, when prosecutors casting doubt on Diallo's credibility.

However he did indicate that he planned to speak once he had returned to France.
