Scores dead in attacks on Baghdad police

A series of suicide car bomb attacks in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad Wednesday morning has killed at least 20 people.
The country's interior ministry said as many as 83 others were wounded.
Al Jazeera reported that in the first attack, six people died when a suicide bomber drove a car filled with explosives into a police station in the central Alwiya neighborhood.
Four policemen were among the dead.
Other reports said that minutes later, in the north-western Hurriya district, a second bomber exploded his car outside a police building.
The Reuters news agency put the death toll at five.

A third bomb reportedly killed three people in an attack on a police patrol in the southern Ilaam district.
Al Jazeera also reported that one person died when a separate blast hit a federal police colonel's convoy in the north of Baghdad.
The bombings are understood to be the most serious since Baghdad's biggest Sunni mosque was attacked in August, killing 28 people.
