Pair charged with UK riot triple murder

A man and a teenager will face British courts charged with a triple murder during recent riots in Britain.

The men that were killed were defending their neighborhood in Birmingham when they were hit by a car, according to police.

They are the first people to be charged over the deaths that occurred during Britain's worst riots in decades, which began in London last Saturday and spread to other major English cities.

Haroon Jahan, 20, Shazad Ali, 30, and his brother Abdul Musavir, 31, were killed early Wednesday morning near a petrol station that they were defending.

Joshua Donald, 26, from nearby Ladywood and a 17-year-old male who cannot be named were charged Saturday with three counts of murder, police said.

Police gathered more than 70 witness statements and 400 exhibits in their investigation.

Jahan's father Tariq made a compelling and emotional plea for others not to seek revenge for his son's death.

He said the law would take its course.

British magistrates have been working around the clock to bring suspects to court.

They have been warned however not to administer ‘rough justice’ and overly harsh sentences in the politically charged aftermath of the riots.
