‘A few nosy fart people’

The World

If China’s really looking to become an innovator, it might want to harness the creativity of “netizens” who get ticked off over censorship.

In the latest turn of creative contempt, an unknown Chinese internet user has used a film about Hitler to mock a local government official recently busted using social media to flirt with his mistress. Subtitles to a clips form the movie “Downfall:” now have Hitler, a stand-in for the local official, complaining that Chinese Internet censors were unable to silence the chattering masses about his widely publicized slip-up. In the spoof, “Hitler” reacts to news that his power is about to come to an end – in this version thanks to nosy journalists and shoddy censors.

The China Digital Times has helpfully translated the Chines parody subtitles into English, including choice bits line Hitler telling his aides: “You can’t even handle a few nosy fart people.”
