Amy Winehouse funeral to be held Tuesday

A small, private funeral for singer Amy Winehouse, who was found dead last week at age 27, will reportedly be held today.

Family spokesman Chris Goodman told the Associated Press there will be a private service for family and close friends Tuesday. He did not disclose details about the ceremony including the funeral's location.

"It will be a small, private event for a few friends and family," Goodman told CNN.

Winehouse, a popular soul singer, was found dead at her house in London Saturday. She had battled drug and alcohol addiction.

In a statement released Sunday, the family said the death has left a hole in their lives, CNN reports.

The family "has been left bereft by the loss of Amy, a wonderful daughter, sister, niece. She leaves a gaping hole in our lives. We are coming together to remember her and we would appreciate some privacy and space at this terrible time."

Her parents also made a visit Monday to their daughter's home in Camden, North London, to see the tributes left for her, the Telegraph reports.

Her father, Mitch, reportedly told fans gathered outside: "You people in the street, I can't tell you what this means to us – it really is making this a lot easier for us," he said. "Amy was about one thing and that was love. Her whole life was devoted to her family and her friends and to you guys as well."

An autopsy Monday completed at the St. Pancras Mortuary did not establish what killed the young singer. The Metropolitan Police said further tests, including toxicology tests, would be carried out, but the results would not be available for two to four weeks.

Police said that at this stage the death is being treated as unexplained.

Winehouse died at the same age as a surprisingly large number of other successful musicians, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison and Kurt Cobain.
