The almost ubiquitous online retailer Amazon.com is set to enter India as soon as the first quarter of next year, the Times of India reports.  The company is already in talks with top Indian e-retailers like Flipkart.com, LetsBuy.com and Exclusively.in, among others, the paper said.

The company is hiring staff in Hyderabad, Bangalore and Chennai, the paper said, quoting an anonymous source as saying, "A team of over 200 people is being built, though all of them might not end up in the core retail arm."

Amazon has reportedly hired Madhu M, a senior executive at the Chennai-based Landmark (retail chain) to head its India operations.

Amazon is also establishing a warehouse in Mumbai, the paper said.
