Melissa Degesso-Jones' Valentine's Day present to her husband is hard to beat – a new kidney.
In the ultimate act of love, Melissa will have surgery on Monday to enable her husband, John, to get a second chance at life.
John has been suffering renal failure for a number of years and recently doctors told him he would require a kidney transplant, Orlando's News 13.
His wife immediately stepped in, offering to donate one of her kidneys.
"There wasn't any reservation, or never did I ever fathom the idea I wouldn't be," said Melissa.
"That's the funny part. I never thought, 'Oh, what if I don't match?' I just assumed I would."
She was correct, with the test results showing a perfect match.
"Everything matched," James told News 13.
"It was just a gift from God."
