Violence in Iraq kills at least 5: officials

Iraqi officials said violence across the country killed at least five people today, reported the Associated Press.
Officials said a Shiite family's home was blown up in the predominantly Sunni Taji area, a city some 20 miles north of Baghdad, according to AP.
Police said three family members died — the mother, father, and their five-year-old son, with two injured, including a two-year-old girl, an interior ministry official told Agence-France Press.

Also today, security official Hallow Najat from Iraq's northern city of Kirkuk said one persion died in an attack near the local university.
Another Kirkuk official, Brigadier General Sarhat Qadir, told AP that a roadside bomb attack today also killed the son of a Sunni militia leader in the same province.
