The University of South Alabama lifted a campus lockdown Sunday night that it had imposed around 3 p.m., after a student had been robbed at gunpoint, the Associated Press reported.
Campus officials said they had arrested one male suspect and were still seeking a second man that they believe had fled the campus, according to the AP.
The two men robbed a student of $1,000 and a cell phone, the AP reported. A shot was fired during the incident, but no one was injured.
On its website earlier, the university had posted a “crime alert,” warning all at the university to remain inside and take shelter: “There have been reports of someone on campus armed with a weapon last seen in the housing area. Please remain inside until further notice.”
