Todd Akin calls his senate opponent Claire McCaskill ‘a dog’ (AUDIO)

Todd Akin, GOP Senate candidate for Missouri, is at it again.

After being sharply criticized for his comments in August about "legitimate rape" rarely causing pregnancy, Akin is ruffling feathers once more; this time, for calling his opponent Claire McCaskill "a dog." 

“She goes to Washington, D.C., it’s a little bit like one of those dogs, ‘fetch,’” he said at a fundraising event in Springfield, Missouri, PoliticMO reported. “She goes to Washington, D.C., and get all of these taxes and red tape and bureaucracy and executive orders and agencies and brings all of this stuff and dumps it on us in Missouri.”

This is not his first critique of his Democratic opponent McCaskill: in September, Akin came under fire for saying that McCaskill's debate performance wasn't as "ladylike" as her previous campaign appearances, Huffington Post reported. 

"I’ve heard Akin speak at press conferences and campaign rallies," wrote the Washington Post's Diana Reese of the politician's, ahem, speaking style. "He has an unrehearsed off-the-cuff style that sounds as if he’s just now thinking of what he’s going to say. I thought perhaps he’d affected that in order to sound more down home. Now I wonder if he really does campaign, unscripted." 

Despite pressure from within his own party back in August to drop out of the race, Akin has hung in there.  

Maybe now's the time?
