Southern California rattled by more than 70 earthquakes (VIDEO)

More than 70 earthquakes shook Southern California Sunday.

The Associated Press reported that dozens of quakes measuring as high as magnitude 5.5 rattled an area from Imperial County to the San Diego coast and north into the Coachella Valley.

Thomas Jordan, director of the USC-based Southern California Earthquake Center, said the “very active swarm” of temblors could continue for a few days, the Los Angeles Times reported.

"It's been pretty productive so far," Jordan said.

"It's a vigorous one. We got some pretty good-sized events."

The cluster was located on the southern edge of the 800-mile San Andreas Fault. Most of the quakes happened around the town of Brawley, where a few buildings had minor "cosmetic" damage, the LA Times reported.

Earlier this month, dozens of earthquakes shook northern Orange County. No damage was reported.
