A 42-year-old man in Australia has been charged with murder after he allegedly decapitated his father during a fight.
Channel 7 reported Toufic Zahab, 69, died while attempting to protect his wife from their “deranged son” in their home in the Sydney suburb of Bankstown.
Khoder Zahab allegedly woke his mother early Thursday by burning her with a candle and calling her “the devil.”
When his father attempted to intervene, Khoder attacked him with a brick and a knife, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.
The Agence France-Presse reported Khoder was arrested at the home and later charged with his father’s murder.
“The scene itself is quite disturbing. It's been a difficult morning for both the family and the police, and ambulance (staff) are currently looking after their welfare," acting Bankstown superintendent Glen Fitzgerald was quoted as saying.
Channel 7 said it took police “a couple of hours” to locate the deceased man’s head.
