A man left his girlfriend's two-year-old son in a car at 1.30am while he went shopping for a television at the Black Friday doorbuster sales, police allege.

Anthony Perry, of Springfield, Massachusetts, faces charges of reckless child endangerment following the incident at Springfield Plaza, News 22 reported.

According to police, staff from K-Mart were alerted to the little boy alone in the Nissan Venza which was in the shopping center carpark.

Staff put an announcement over the intercom but nobody came forward so they contacted police.

The Daily Mail reported police found the boy sleeping in the car and had to force their way in to get him out.

The boy was taken to a medical center and the child's mother, who had left her son with her boyfriend while she went to work, was alerted.

Police later found Perry at his home with his new 51 inch television he had purchased.
