People read lists of victims in the southern Russian town of Krymsk on July 7, 2012. The death toll from severe flash floods in Russia’s southern Krasnodar region climbed to 141 people from 134 overnight as officials discovered more bodies, a police spokesman said.
The floods that swept through the Krymsk district claimed at least 172 lives as of Tuesday, and the government now faces accusations that it did not issue warnings fast enough, according to The New York Times.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Monday, "We must help these families, help all the people who are in very difficult circumstances and have lost almost all their belongings," reported Reuters.
