Pamplona, Spain: bulls gore 2 Brits, 1 American

Spanish officials said two British citizens and one American were gored on the streets of the northern city of Pamplona today during the famous running of the bulls festival event, reported The Associated Press.
The Navarra government issued a statement saying one 20-year-old British citizen was gored in his right leg, while another 29-year-old British citizen was gored in his left leg, and the American, 39 years old, was gored in the right leg. All of them have been hospitalized, and officials said four other people were wounded, according to AP.

The three foreigners were attacked by bulls that broke away from the three other fighting bulls released behind a group of thousands of runners in an event known as the running of the bulls, the headline event of the annual San Fermin festival, said AP.
Spain's traditional running of the bulls, famously described by Ernest Hemingway in "The Sun Also Rises," has killed a total of 15 people since 1924, according to SKY News.
The runs, which are followed by bullfights — also often deadly — are broadcast on state television and held daily through July 14, said AP.
