New York Jets lower ticket prices

It's getting cheaper to go to professional football game in New York. 

The New York Jets are cutting prices on about 12,000 seats at MetLife Stadium for the 2012 season. 

Upper-tier tickets that now sell for $105 per game will fall to $50 or $75, depending on location. Tickets that now sell for $95 will also drop to $50 or $75, depending on location.

Many of the seats are located in the end zones and corners of MetLife Stadium's topmost rows. 

The price cuts are aimed in part at helping season ticket holders save a little money. 

"After we looked at the 300-level, we decided to adjust the price to improve the value for fans, especially season ticket holders," Jets president Neil Glat said. "The NFL is built on season ticket holders — they are the lifeblood of the stadium experience across the league. And we want more of them in the 300-level."

With the discounts, season tickets for the Jets can be had for as little as $500, New York City's CBS affiate said. 

Jet's owner Woody Johnson already is planning for a sellout season, The Star-Ledger reported.
