Amazon Web Services, or AWS, operates server systems that deliver Internet and data storage services for a number of companies, including Netflix. Amazon confirmed that there was an outage and said the issue has now been resolved. "The service is now functioning correctly, and we're heads down making sure customers are operating smoothly," an Amazon spokeswoman told the Wall Street Journal.

But the glitch was at least the third major AWS outage this year for Amazon, the WSJ said.
