Mitt Romney raised $101M in July

Mitt Romney had another banner fundraising month in July, raising more than $101 million for his campaign and the Republican National Committee, ending the month with nearly $186 million in the bank, according to ABC. 

It was Romney's second month in a row of raising more than $100 million, coming in just behind June's fundraising amount of $106 million. 

The money comes from a number of smaller committees aimed at raising funds for the presumptive Republican presidential candidate in a joint committee known as Romney Victory, according to CNN. 

CNN also noted that if Obama does not raise more than Romney, it will mark the third consecutive month that Romney has outpaced Obama in fundraising. 

Spencer Zwick, Romney Victory National Finance Chairman,  said in a statement, "We are honored to have the support of a broad spectrum of donors—independents, Democrats and Republicans—whose support of Governor Romney shows that he has the needed plan to jumpstart our economy and get the country on the right track again. We are well on track to raise the money to be successful in November."

Zwick, or the campaign, did not disclose how much of the funds will be set aside for the general election. According to USA Today, that money cannot be tapped until the end of August, when Romney is formally nominated at his party's convention in Tampa.
