Mild but widespread winter storm heads to East Coast
A fierce winter storm dropped snow and sleet across much of the country on Christmas Day, making travel difficult. The storm is moving east on Wednesday.
NEW YORK — A winter weather storm of snow, sleet and rain fell across New York and New Jersey on Saturday, the Wall Street Journal reported.
CBS News said forecasters expect Southern New England to get 4 to 8 inches in Boston and Providence, Rhode Island.
The National Weather Service is predicting one to five inches of snow, though only an inch or so of "slushy accumulation" in the New York metropolitan area, according to the Journal.
So far, the storm has not disrupted travel at the major New York area airports, Newark Liberty International Airport, Kennedy and LaGuardia but delays are expected to increase as conditions get worse.

The storm is part of the same massive winter storm system that hit the Midwest on Christmas Day, killing at least three people dead, NBC reported.
As the AP wrote, the storm left a trail of damage across several states, including dozens of tornadoes in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.
