Michael J. Fox returning to series television, reports say

Michael J. Fox is reportedly returning to series television.

Vulture, citing unnamed sources, said the star of “Family Ties,” “Back to the Future” and “Spin City” was working with director Will Gluck and writer Sam Laybourne on a comedy show to be released in 2013.

A spokesperson for Sony Pictures Television, which is developing the show, confirmed the Vulture report to NBC’s The Clicker.

"There's a tremendous amount of interest," the unnamed spokesperson was quoted as saying.

"The show is likely to land on a broadcast network, and they're all very interested right now."

Fox, 51, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 1991.

He left series TV in 2000 as the symptoms of his disease worsened.

At the time, Fox said he wanted to focus on fighting the disease and finding a cure, the Associated Press reported.

ABC News reported that a new combination of drugs had helped Fox to control the tics that are a result of the disease and allowed him to take on acting roles, including guest appearances on “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and “The Good Wife.”

According to Vulture, the single-camera comedy project will be “inspired by Fox’s own life.”
