Madonna kicks off world tour in Holy Land

Israelis are gearing up to usher in Madonna's next world tour.

The pop diva landed in Israel Friday for the opening of her "MDNA" world tour that kicks off May 31 in Tel Aviv, the Associated Press reports.

Agence France Presse writes she arrived amid tight security on a chartered El Al flight from New York, accompanied by partner Brahim Zaibat, her children – Lourdes, Rocco, David – and an entourage of 70 people, according to local media.

The material girl's motorcade entered the Tel Aviv Dan hotel parking lot as guards shielded the superstar from the media.

The AP reports fans are dressing up as the superstar in Tel Aviv clubs and bars.

Madonna, is not Jewish but she does study the Jewish mystic tradition of Kabbalah. She has even adopted the Hebrew name Esther and is known in Israel as "Queen Esther."

Haaretz reports Madonna is expected to visit a number of holy sites, as she did in her last visit to Israel in 2009.
