The Kennedy family tragedies: A timelime

The Kennedy family has experienced more than their fair share of tragedy. The most recent addition to what is known as "the Kennedy curse" was the passing of Mary Kennedy.
According to CBS News, Mary Kennedy died of asphyxiation due to hanging, a medical examiner said Thursday. Mary reportedly committed suicide in the family's Westchester, New York home.
Sadly, the family has known many tragic deaths before her.
August 12, 1944 – Joseph Kennedy Jr, the eldest son of Joe and Rose kennedy, is killed when his bomber aircraft exploded over Suffolk during the WWII.
August 23, 1956 – Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy gave birth to a stillborn daughter whom they named Arabella.
1961– Joseph Kennedy, father of JFK and Robert Kennedy, suffered a stroke which rendered him speechless and in a wheelchair.
August 9, 1963 – Jacqueline and JFK lost a second child. Patrick Bouvier Kennedy died two days after his birth.
November 22, 1963 – President John F Kennedy is assassinated as he rides in an open convertible through Dallas, Texas. His killer, Lee Harvey Oswald, is assassinated two days later. The president's death has now become a mainstay for conspiracy theorists.
June 6, 1968 – Robert Kennedy, JFK's younger brother and his attorney general, is assassinated after winning the California Democratic primary. His death has also been shrouded in mystery. Several reports claim Sirhan Sirhan, the gunman responsible for Roberts death, did not act alone. Sirhan remains in a prison in California.
April 25, 1984 – David Kennedy, Robert Kennedy's fourth child, died of an overdose from cocaine, painkillers and anti-psychotic medicine.
December 31, 1997 – Michael Kennedy, another of Robert Kennedy's children, died as the result of a ski accident in Colorado.
July 16, 1999 – John F Kennedy Junior died in a plane crash while attempting to fly his light aircraft Martha's Vineyard. JFK Jr. was attempting to fly the plane at night in the fog when he reportedly became disoriented. His wife Carolyn and sister-in-law Lauren Bessette also perished in the crash.
