Telling parents that assault rifles are unnecessary and too difficult to aim, Vice President Joe Biden’s solution to America’s gun debate rests with an old-fashioned shotgun.
That was Biden’s advice when asked if tougher gun-control laws would leave honest American’s vulnerable to attack from criminals.
He was speaking to readers of Parents Magazine during an online Facebook “town hall” meeting.
“You don’t need an AR-15,” Biden said, according to The Associated Press. “It’s harder to aim, it’s harder to use and in fact, you don't need 30 rounds to protect yourself.”

An AR-15 was the military-style weapon used in the Sandy Hook shootings at Newtown, Connecticut, last December.
The Vice President has two shotguns at home, and told wife Jill she just needs to “fire two blasts outside the house” if danger comes calling.
Biden is also President Obama’s point man on new gun control initiatives that limit ammunition magazines and call for background checks on gun owners.
He said the White House isn’t trying to remove all guns from American homes, but that limits and background checks just make sense.
“If you can't get the deer in the second or third shot, you shouldn't be out hunting deer,” Biden said, the Daily News reported.
