Iran loses 4 revolutionary guards in Kurdish rebel attack — report

Iran's semi-official Mehr news agency today said four members of Iran's Revolutionary Guards have been killed in an attack by Kurdish rebels.
The report said four more guards were injured in the assault, which took place on Tuesday in the western Iranian province of Kermanshah, which lies near Iran's border with Iraq.
Iran last year launched an ongoing military campaign against the rebels, according to Reuters.

The last instance of similar violence between the two sides took place in September, reported FOX News.
Mehr identified the Kurdish militants as members of the PJAK (Party of Free Life of Kurdistan), a group Reuters said is tied to the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK).
The PKK has been waging a guerilla war with Turkey for decades.
Tehran has raised concerns that the leader of Iraq's semi-autonomous Kurdish region, Massoud Barzani, is giving the rebels support, according to FOX News, allegations that AFP said came up in during Barzani's visit to Turkey last week.
Iran, along with the United States and others, considers the PKK a terrorist organization.
