Hurricane Sandy-stricken Breezy Point hit by thieves

A family in Breezy Point, Queens was still recovering from Superstorm Sandy when they were struck by another disaster during their Thanksgiving vacation: thieves. The Perrotta family told the New York Daily News that thieves broke into their home while the family was out-of-town for Thanksgiving. In addition to stealing valuables, the thieves also smashed a pair of piggy banks that belonged to Luca and Matteo Perrotta, who are just 8 and 5, the New York Daily News reported.
But the robbery in Sandy-stricken Breezy Point was not an isolated incident.

Police said that three homes in the area were broken into over the Thanksgiving holiday, and from November 12 through November 18, another 14 homes were also hit by cooks who stole laptops, jewelry and cash, CBS reported. The thefts have frightened and angered the neighborhood. According to CBS, one resident even had a sign on his door that said: “I’m here and armed. Come on in.”
