Giuliani says may advise Serbian nationalists tied to Slobodan Milosevic

NEW YORK – The former mayor of this city, Rudolph W Giuliani, appeared in the Balkans today saying he would be an advisor to Serbian nationalists once allied with Slobodan Milosevic if they are victorious in next month’s mayoral elections in Belgrade, according to The Associated Press.
Giuliani, who presided over two divisive terms as mayor between 1993 and 2001, culminating in the terrorist attacks of 2001 and their immediate aftermath, told reporters in the Serbian capital that his consultancy, Giuliani Partners, would advise the nationalist Serbian Progressive Party if they are victorious on May 6, the news agency said.
Indeed, Giuliani was quoted saying, this would be “an honor.”

The AP said the incumbent mayor Dragan Djilas had been angered by Giuliani’s visit and pointed out that Giuliani had favored NATO’s aerial bombardment of Belgrade in 1999.
The former mayor ‘s firm in 2008 announced it would advise boxer and anti-corruption campaigner Vitali Klitschko in his campaign for the mayoralty of Kiev, Ukraine. Klitschko was not successful.

However in most cases Giuliani Partners clients are required to sign confidentiality agreements. But The Washington Post reported in 2007 that Giuliani Partners had charged Mexico City $4.3 million to develop a plan on reducing crime, something former mayor Jorge Castañeda decried as “a $4 million publicity stunt."
